Staffing
The forestry operation is composed of the following personnel:
- (1) City Forester
- (1) Forestry Foreman
- (5) Park Maintenance II-Forestry
- (2) Forestry Internships
- (1) Office personnel utilized with the entire Leisure Services Department.
Waterloo’s forestry employees are well trained and dedicated to the city’s arboricultural needs. Below are a number of training programs that are required of these employees.
- The City Forester and the Forestry Foreman are required to obtain and maintain Certified Arborist status through the International Society of Arboriculture.
- All forestry employees are required to obtain and maintain Line Clearance Arborist Certification status through ACRT Inc.
- All forestry employees are required to obtain and maintain the Iowa Pesticide Applicator’s License.
- All forestry employees are given the opportunity to attend arboriculture related workshops.
- All forestry employees perform aerial rescue training.
- All forestry employees maintain CPR and First Aid cards.
- All forestry employees participate in a citywide safety training program.
All of this training develops the forestry employees’ arboricultural knowledge and creates a safe working environment for them and the residents of Waterloo.
